Description:

At Crystal Dynamic's, we are seeking an experienced Environment Art Manager specializing in Campaign to manage our talented art team. In this role, you will focus on overseeing the professional development of the artists, ensuring the alignment of their work with the project’s artistic vision, and managing the overall workflow. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a productive and creative environment, supporting the team's growth, and ensuring high-quality output.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director and other lead artists to align on creative vision and ensure cohesive execution across the Campaign team.
  • Ensure artists understand and effectively implement the visual style for the campaign, leveraging strong composition skills to guide and mentor the team.
  • Manage and mentor the art team, focusing on professional development, skill assessment, and career progression.
  • Oversee the art production process, including scheduling, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
  • Act as a liaison between the art team and other departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on the team's performance, identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive guidance.
  • Support the hiring process, including interviewing and onboarding new team members.
  • Identify training opportunities and tools to enhance the team's skills and keep them updated with industry trends.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Artist, Lead Artist, Art Supervisor, or Art Manager overseeing a significant portion of the development cycle on a high-quality game.  
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on nurturing and developing talent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of providing clear direction and feedback.
  • Understanding of the art production pipeline and ability to manage resources and schedules effectively.
  • A strong portfolio, showcasing:
    - Good compositional skills demonstrating a good visual eye.
    - High quality examples of 3D modeling and texturing in an organic environment.
    - A strong sense of atmosphere, mood, and storytelling through lighting, composition, and design choices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing art teams in the gaming industry, particularly in third-person action-adventure games or similar genres.  
  • Extremely familiar with industry-standard software and tools, such as Unreal Engine, Maya, and Substance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

It'll be a bonus if you also have:
Experience in shipping multiple AAA titles as a Lead, Manager, or Principal Artist.

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states or regions, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education.
