Description:

Crystal Dynamics is seeking a talented Senior Franchise Artist to support the Tomb Raider franchise and provide visual guidance to external teams developing content under the Tomb Raider brand umbrella. In this role you will help create franchise assets as well as leverage existing art standards to support the creation of a wide range of partner assets across multiple mediums including video games, hard- and soft-line goods, social and marketing graphics, photography, and videos. The right candidate will understand brand guidelines and communicate them through clear and concise visual direction, as well as research and curate high quality supporting art assets and reference. Across internal and partner projects, this role’s goal is to accurately represent the spirit of curiosity and adventure the Tomb Raider brand exemplifies.

Responsibilities:

  • IP Management / Partner Support:  
    - Review partner art and visual design assets across multiple media formats, including characters, environments, and animations; ensuring all assets meet Tomb Raider brand standards.
    - Directional support including draw over, retouch, or paint-over of partner work as necessary.
    - Source and package 2D/3D art assets from our game catalog to aid partners in the creation of goods.
    - Collaborate with Franchise leadership to define quality benchmarks aligned with a licensee’s product and target audience.
    - Coordinate with Production owners to prioritize feedback.
  • Participate in collaborative discussions with other designers and leadership, converting complex design ideas into tangible gameplay components.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, particularly experienced in designing presentations in PowerPoint.
  • A portfolio demonstrating your skills in 2D & 3D art, preferably including examples of work created for or provided direction on creation from external sources. Portfolio should include:
    - Examples of 2D and 3D art, including some realistic pieces.
    - Demonstration of advanced artistic understanding of anatomy, perspective, color, and lighting.
    - A shot breakdown specifying your direct responsibilities.
  • Familiarity working with 2D/3D game assets – experience with Maya and/or Blender a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a deadline-driven, collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to estimate workload and deliver on time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an Artist within the gaming or entertainment industry.
  • Managed transmedia content for IPs with strong brand recognition, including a solid understanding of the IP approval process.
  • Worked with external vendors or agencies.

It'll be a bonus if you also have:
Knowledge and understanding of video games; ideally an understanding of the Tomb Raider brand including lore, design, and aesthetics.

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states or regions, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education.
