Description:

Crystal Dynamics is looking for a UI/UX Director to lead and elevate our user experience and interface design across all projects. This key leadership role will be responsible for defining and driving the overall UI/UX strategy, ensuring that all user-facing aspects of our games meet the highest standards of design, usability, and visual fidelity. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects to create seamless and engaging experiences that align with the company’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Creative Directors and senior leadership to establish and implement a unified UI/UX vision across all projects.
  • Lead the design and development of intuitive, user-centered interfaces and experiences that resonate with our players.
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of UI/UX design systems, ensuring consistency and quality across all game interfaces.
  • Mentor and guide the entire UI/UX team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the bridge between design, engineering, art and production teams to ensure cohesive execution of the UI/UX vision.
  • Conduct regular reviews and usability tests to ensure that the final product meets our high standards of functionality and aesthetic quality.
  • Work with the Director of Central Development to manage resource allocation and budget for a central UI/UX team, aligning with project scope and timelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Director, Lead, or other Leadership role within UI/UX design or art in the gaming industry, contributing to high-quality UI/UX.
  • Extensive experience with game UI/UX for console or PC titles, including in-engine prototyping. Strong understanding of design processes, principles, and best practices, with a focus on user-centered design.
  • Proficiency in advanced design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) and their integration into game engines like Unreal Engine.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across departments.
  • A portfolio showcasing your leadership in creating and implementing UI/UX designs that drive user engagement. (If you directed others, then we would be looking for details on high quality work you directed others creation/implementation of UI/UX).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Shipped AAA titles in UI/UX role.
  • A strong artistic background in areas such as illustration, animation, or visual design.
  • Experience in scripting or fundamental markup languages.

It'll be a bonus if you also have:
A deep understanding of emerging trends and technologies in UI/UX and their application in gaming.

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states or regions, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education.
