Description:

As a Lead UI Artist at Crystal Dynamics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the visual style of the game's user interface. Your leadership, collaboration, and technical expertise will be essential in guiding both internal teams and external vendors to create a cohesive and immersive UI experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Director and internal teams to define and execute the visual style for the game's user interface (UI).
  • Create comps/prototypes using Figma as well as Photoshop/Illustrator and After Effects.  
  • Provide clear and concise feedback to both internal and external teams to ensure alignment with the studio's quality standards, technical requirements, and artistic vision.
  • Refine and polish final UI assets using industry-standard software and import them into Unreal Engine.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, such as style guides and technical specifications, to ensure consistent and efficient communication.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to UI artists, enhancing their skills and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and participate in cross-discipline discussions to refine UI designs and techniques

Requirements

  • Experience as a Senior or Lead UI Artist, contributing to high-quality UI Art for PC/Console games.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback and art direction.
  • Proficiency in advanced design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Photoshop/Illustrator, and After Effects) and their integration into game engines, such as Unreal Engine.
  • An understanding of the technical constraints of commercial game engines.
  • Ability to manage one or more UI artists.
  • Strong graphic design skills, experience with motion graphics or animation, knowledge of the principles of typography, as well as basic wireframing skills.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases advanced UI artistry. An ideal portfolio will include: high-fidelity final assets, a range of visual styles, process work from concept to completion, innovative solutions to UI challenges, and examples of UI animations or motion design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on third-person action-adventure games or similar genres.
  • Worked on UI/UX Art for AAA games.  

It'll be a bonus if you also have:
Familiarity with Rive, and/or familiarity with scripting languages.

The pay range for this role includes the annual base salary, not including bonus and the generous benefits package that Crystal Dynamics provides all full-time employees. Individual compensation is determined by work location within our approved states or regions, as well as additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education.
